NATS
NATS (and its persistence layer, JetStream) is a connective technology for adaptive edge and distributed systems. It is famous for being incredibly small (a few megabytes), simple to operate, and fast. It supports "fire-and-forget" messaging as well as durable streaming.
Why use it in EDA? NATS is the choice for "hyper-connectivity." When you have thousands of microservices or millions of IoT devices that need to talk instantly, NATS acts as a high-speed nervous system. It is less about "big data storage" and more about "instant communication."
How do we use it?
- Microservices Mesh: A lightweight control plane for internal service communication.
- IoT & Edge: Connecting millions of sensors with effortless fan-in/fan-out.
